Vineyard, grape varieties and cellar
A vineyard where nature reigns, from the vines to the cellar.
VINEYARDS THAT CELEBRATE RED GRAPE VARIETIES
Château Rochefort has mainly red vineyard vines. The Garanoir takes centre stage but the Gamaret and the Merlot aren’t easily forgotten. Of the five vineyards that belong to the municipality of Lausanne, spread out between La Côte and Lavaux, Château Rochefort is moreover the only one with such a strong preference for red grape varieties.Château Rochefort doesn’t give whites the cold shoulder. As for its specialities, note that the Pinot Gris can also be found in the vineyard alongside them. The estate is also starting to make its sparkling wine known far and wide (a blend of Pinot gris and Pinot noir), using the Champagne method!
NOTHING BUT BIODYNAMIC FARMING
The estate’s most striking feature is that its four hectares of vines and vegetable garden have been farmed using nothing but biodynamics since 2009. Synthetic molecules, now banned, have been replaced by plant extracts, decoctions and plant herbal teas, boosted by following lunar and planetary rhythms.

The Chateau’s wine-making cellar, situated beneath the Rochefort outbuilding was completely refurbished in 1986. Its current equipment favours natural wine-making methods that respect the grape’s integrity.
